Show Title: This is Me

Show Theme: The theme is to encourage students to express themselves with original ideas and creative expressions.

Further Explanation: Each student is to create an Original piece of artwork that is expressive of themselves, their likes, or interests. Freedom of Expression is a fundamental value that art instills in students. We want this show to give students the opportunity to express the visions within themselves.

Inspiration: Remember imaginary friends, fairy tales and what you want to be.

Eligibility: WORKS MUST BE ORIGINAL IN CONCEPT, DESIGN, AND IMAGERY AND NOT PREVIOUSLY EXHIBITED IN ANY OTHER ART SHOWS. Students must be in the 6th- 12th grade in Bossier Parish Schools.   All accepted entries must correspond to the show's theme.  Open to all media. Each school may submit up to 20 pieces.

Teacher commitment: Each teacher must notify the Bossier Arts Council by Thursday February 16th, of the size and quantity of the works to be submitted. Each student must have a signed image release form.

Deadline for Entries: No entries will be accepted after 5:00 pm, Wednesday, February 28th.  Entries should be delivered to the Bossier Arts Council, 630 Barksdale Blvd., Bossier City, LA 71111

Media: Accepted entry types include: drawing, painting, collage, printmaking, graphic art, digital and traditional photography.  All media accepted, 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional, provided that the material is not inappropriate.   (All media must be secure and completely dry and ready to hang or the artwork will not be accepted for entry.)

Size: May not exceed 18” x 24” matted.

Preparation: All artworks must be display-ready. Works on paper should be mounted on grey or black foam core or matte board with a saw tooth hanger attached to the back. All canvases must be wired. (Taped on wires will NOT be accepted)  The artist's name and the artwork's title, dimensions, medium, completion date, school and price must be included on a label attached to the back of the work as well as on a label for the wall. Artists may include an artist statement with each work. The written/typed statement should be no longer than two paragraphs and should describe how the artwork ties into the exhibition theme. Please Note - Any school that submits a plagiarized piece of artwork will be disqualified from participating in Bossier Arts Council Exhibits for ONE (1) year.

Selection Process: Each participant may submit 1 piece of work.  Please note that all entries may not be exhibited in the show due to space limitations.

Opening Reception: March 8th at 5:30pm - Students and their families are invited to attend the opening reception/ awards ceremony.

Deadline to pick up entries: April 13th at 5:00pm. All entries not picked up by this date become property of the Bossier Arts Council.
