BAC Grant Outreach Program
BAC GRANT PROCEDURES OUTLINE
The following is an outline of granting procedures for all of the Bossier Arts Council’s grant programs:
- BAC announces availability of grant funding through press announcements and mail-outs and sets application deadline.
- BAC holds a grant workshop or individual grant consultations for possible applicants.
- BAC receives and approves applications or notifies applicants of needed changes in the application. (The application must include a proposal narrative and a detailed project budget along with other applicant information requested on BAC’s official grant application forms.)
- BAC selects grant panelists and holds a review of all grant applications at which time panelists make an informed recommendation of projects that should or should not be funded; a representative from each applicant organization is invited to and encouraged to attend the panel review.
- BAC presents the panel’s recommendations to the Executive Committee of the BAC Board of Directors; the EC presents a motion of acceptance or non-acceptance of the recommendations to the entire Board of Directors.
- The applicant is notified of funding decisions by mail; the applicant may also call BAC at this time to learn the status of his application; following official notification by BAC, the applicant has ten (10) days to appeal the Board of Directors’ funding recommendations. *
- The applicant begins his project according to the “grant start date” set by BAC upon notification of funding availability; the applicant receives 85% of his grant award in order to begin his project; the final 15% of funding is issued as reimbursement upon acceptance by BAC of the applicant’s final report.
- The applicant completes his final report and submits it to BAC no later than thirty days following the completion of his project.
- BAC approves the applicant’s final report or notifies applicant of additional information needed in order to complete the final report. Following the completion and approval of the final report, BAC issues the final 15% of funding for the completed project.

*Appealing the Board’s Recommendation:
The applicant may appeal the recommendation of the BAC Board of Directors if he feels that information in his application or information regarding his organization was misrepresented during the panel review. Applicants are encouraged to be present to answer questions during the review in order to avoid any misunderstanding. Please see the appeals processes outlined under each grant program for further information regarding appeals. |
